TRAVELS IN LIBYA The Geigab page.

We left the Cyrene area after lunch and headed for Geigab where there is a Turkish fort converted into a museum. Geigab is about 1300km east of Tripoli, the capital of Libya. We nearly got in for only a Dinar until the blind curator heard us talking then he realised were foreigners. Anyway I am not in the habit of trying to cheat blind curators or blind peope in general but we did get a little discount as we work here in Libya for the people. However, this is an ill kept museum with little of interest on display compared to the beautiful museum in Tripoli. Moth eaten butterfly displays compete with dusty cabinets containing labels but no exhibits. I would classify it as sad. I suppose it is not surprising as the curator cannot see how awful the whole place looks. So I walked around the roof area, as one does. The garden was nicely laid out but a bit overgrown. We then drove to Slontah.
